Just a quick post today to outline how to fix the Windows Update failures in and SBS 2011 installation. We recently started to encounter Windows Update failures at 2 client locations with SBS 2011. The error code was:
80092004
We discovered that this was due Microsoft's implementation of SHA-2. The MS article can be accessed via the following link: 2019 SHA-2 Code Signing Support requirement for Windows and WSUS
In our instances, all we had to do is install the following 2 patches from the Windows Catalog website:
- KB44744129
- KB4490628
Once installed, reboot your server and attempt to run your Windows Update again and it should run without issue.
